What is Multicultural Counseling?
Multicultural counseling takes into account the diversity of both the client and the therapist. Diversity takes into account race and ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion and spirituality, varied ability and disability, socio-economic class and cultural bias on behalf of the therapist
This requires both awareness and ongoing learning in order to consider the effect that cultural beliefs and norms can have on treatment. Concerning issues may be directly or indirectly related to culture.
